We are approaching our 5th Birthday (May 12th) and as part of those celebrations we have a whole host of things planned among which is dropping perhaps our most eagerly anticipated ‘Blah Blah Blah Records‘ release to date: ‘Blacksmif – Hoop Dreams / Microweight’. With glowing reports coming in from such luminaries as Mary Anne Hobbs, Laurent Garnier, Disclosure, Ben Westbeech, Audiojack, Deadboy, South London Ordnance, and Midland among others, we decided to get Blacksmif behind the decks for an exclusive mix.
The Blacksmif sound flirts on the edge of accepted thinking, taking flamboyant percussive and melodic risks within a bass driven jazz tinged environment, the following mix typifies this unique approach as it roams freely amongst an often highly segregated field of music.

PanLeft is the second artist to be launching his debut via BBB Records and like REID before him his music has a conflicting sonic quality that is both foreboding and uplifting with distant echo's and delays creating a sense of isolation whilst earthy basslines and pads envelop the listner in a gathering gloom, before sizzling synths, sharp beats and elevating vocals pierce the gathering darkness.
PanLeft's - Electrika / HRTS is set to drop April 9th, and in anticipation of his debut single he has crafted a superbly judged mix of beats that seamlessly combines heavy bass, sparse percussion and strong melodies throughout. Highly Recommended.

A few weeks ago we announced the first signing to 'BlahBlahBlah Records', Irish born producer REID. REID's first single 'Genesis' will be out at the end of this month and in anticipation of his debut release he has recorded this exclusive mixtape. REID’s heady mix of tempos, jagged sounds, rhythmic flourishes, cinematic spaces and gentle melodies are all present in this mix, both reflecting what to expect from the single and also his passion for electronica and traditional song writing.

The Waifs & Strays are yet another example of the growing significance of Bristol on global club culture. Like the preeminent Julio Bashmore before them they have a deep passion for House and consequently this is a smooth groove laden mix that melds looped vocal, chicago pianos, and hand claps into a 4x4 delight.

The latest edition of our WeAreBBB mix series has arrived. This episode is from fellow Brightonian Maxxi Soundsystem. This guy has been turning out some mighty fine dance music of late. Blending the more refined sides of house and disco together to get chugging Chicago flavoured tracks reminiscent of the 80s, yet still fresh, exciting and new.
For those who havent come across Maxxi Soundsystem previously you should check the Criticize single which Annie Mac featured on her Radio 1 show earlier this year.
This mix showcases his sound perfectly. Deep basslines, chattering retro hats, claps and toms and smooth vocal chops. This'll work at the last barbecue of the summer or after the last drink of a late night.

In true Blah Blah Blah tradition we have spent days and days hunched over our decks carefully crafting our 4th Birthday mix - WeAre4. This mix probably took more days than initially planned however we are really pleased with the results, and would probably go as far as to say this is one of our best mixes to date, a bold claim I know. WeAre4 starts at a sedately thoughtful 110bpm before shamelessly dropping its trousers and leaving nothing to the imagination as it bangs out some main room destroyers before settling back down and letting you know that it has tender side. Hope you enjoy.......
